Documentary on Ilokano Language PreservationFor my Ilokano 401 class final project, I decided to do a documentary based on the importance of Ilokano language preservation.

Originally my vision was to create a documentary from a collage of voices, views, and opinions from at least 10 different people, a mixture of students, professionals, and long-time immigrants to Hawaii.  However, due to time constraints and splitting myself between my internship at HIFF and final projects for several other classes, I settled for interviews with two students, a former student, myself, and two local-born Ilokano children.

Although I wish I was able to translate and input English subtitles for the Ilokano-speaking parts, I am very happy with my product.  Also, a more refined title would be “Ti Preservasion ti Lengguahe nga Ilokano” or “The Preservation of the Ilokano Language.”

This project was shot using a Canon 7D and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro.
